The Department of Physics and Astronomy offers programs of study leading to a BS, MS, and PhD in physics, with specialties in extragalactic astronomy and astrophysics.

Graduate students in the astronomy program take courses in both physics and astronomy, which provides the background needed to understand and participate in modern astronomical research. In addition to Wednesday Research Colloquia, astronomy students meet regularly for talks on research in astronomy, and they offer public observing sessions at the University Observatory.

Complete information about our graduate programs, including course descriptions and degree requirements, can be found in the UA Graduate Catalog.
