Read section 8.7. Use the following picture to answer questions 15-16.

All-sky distribution of 34,729 galaxies. Notice that the “zone of avoidance” is the band where we don’t see any galaxies. The band follows the galactic equator. Why would we not see any galaxies along the galactic equator? If it were not for this “zone of avoidance,” would the distribution of galaxies be isotropic or anisotropic?
